'Diggin' on Doilies and Lace'

Cath over at Moxie Fab is ''Diggin' on Doilies and Lace', so I had to play along!  Hopefully, this is not posted too late or the deadline is coming up here real quick!  *smile*

I had some lace doilies from my cake stash, so I used one on this card...and I like it!  This card has {ippity} goodness on it, as I used my {ippity} stamp set:  'Where you Should Be'; and some yummy My Mind's Eye Paper 'quite contrary':
From Unity Projects
Thanks for dropping by...I appreciate it lots!

...sweet thoughts of you...

It's Monday, and what do we have better to do today than to visit {ippity} friends~ Yay H{ippity Hop time!

Well, I know you have lots of friends to visit, so...  This card was intended to make the {ippity} 'green' challenge, ummm yea, I never posted it. I just noticed on the picture...the bunny hiding in the grass looks like he has an apple on his head, or perhaps a red hat...that just happens to be a red polka dot on the paper...heehee. I used the scallop stamps for the grass and the right edge of my card (and I cut around the scallops to give it a more interesting edge).  So here's a little Easter card for you:
From Unity Projects
Stamps: {ippity} Sweet Thoughts of Spring (I have this set in stock!)
C/S: My Mind's Eye 'quite contrary' (I have this paper in stock!); SU Green Galore, Garden Green, Whisper White
Ink: Palette Viridian Leaf (I have this ink in stock!), SU Real Red and Very Vanilla, SU Markers
Accessories: Green Apple Grosgrain Ribbon

Thanks for 'hopping' by!

I'm sharing this card that I created for the FWF16 inspiration challenge.  My inspiration was the distressed dots and orange sunshine, so I used the Unity distressed dots; and the bird houses and sentiment from the Unity KOM for February - Nothing but Blue Skies.  I love the shiny 'stickled' bird houses, don't you?

~Yummy Nanaimo Bars~

Okay, my Canadian friends...waaaaay back when (and I mean yearrrrrs ago)...I was around Victoria and had the pleasure of having tea and Nanaimo Bars...yummO!  And, my friend Leslie and I made sure that we had Nanaimo Bars as often as we could while we were in Canada...we LOVED THEM!

I just remembered them a couple of weeks ago and found a recipe from Joy of Baking.  Now, I'm not sure how close this is to the true recipe, and of course, don't even think about finding Bird's Vanilla Custard Powder anywhere close in Arizona, let alone the States (unless you are close to CAN)!!!

So here's a picture of my Nanaimo Bars that I made and the recipe.  I gave some to friends and oh my gosh they were in heaven and had to make more themselves!  So, my Canadian friends...does anyone have a 'true' recipe for these Nanaimo Bars?  If you do, would you share it with me?  Or, is this 'the' recipe? I LOVE THESE!!!  Oh, and you're supposed to put the bars out at room temperature before you cut them into squares, or you make a mess with the chocolate cracking...heck no, I couldn't wait, so there may be crumbs everywhere, but they are still so yummy! And, this is all that was left after about 30 minutes...but then these were gone the next day!
From Misc Pic's
Nanaimo Bars Recipe by 'joy of baking'
Butter (or use cooking spray) a 9 x 9 inch pan

Bottom Layer:
1/2 c (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1/4 c granulated white sugar
1/3 c unsweetened cocoa (Dutch)
1 large egg, beaten
1 tspn pure vanilla extract
2 c graham cracker crumbs
1 c coconut (either sweetened or unsweetened)
1/2 c walnuts or pecans, coarsely chopped

Filling:
1/4 c unsalted butter, room temperature
2 - 3 tbsp milk or cream
2 tbsp vanilla custard powder (Bird's) or vanilla pudding powder
1/2 tspn pure vanilla extract
2 c powdered sugar (confectioners)

Topping:
4 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 tbsp unsalted butter

Bottom Layer:  In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.   Stir in the sugar and cocoa powder and then gradually whisk in the beaten egg.  Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens (1 -2 minutes).  Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract, graham cracker crumbs, coconut, and chopped nuts.  Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.  Cover and refrigerate until firm (about an hour).

Filling:  In your electric mixer cream the butter.  Beat in the remaining ingredients.  If the mixture is too thick to spread, add a little more milk.  Spread the filling over the bottom layer, cover, and refrigerate until firm (about 30 minutes).

Top Layer:  In a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, melt the chocolate and butter.  Spread over the filling and refrigerate.

To Serve:  To prevent the chocolate from cracking, using a sharp knife, bring the squares to room temperature before cutting.

Yield:  Makes about 24 squares.

feelin' lucky?

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all {ippity} fans (okay, I know, I know...it's not till Wednesday)! *smile*  May you be lucky and receive a four leaf clover...or perhaps a box of three leaf clovers, like the one I made here:
From Unity Projects
I made these match boxes for some 'little ones' to carry their three leaf clover confetti (see inside this box).

The Smooch filled four leaf clover is made from a heart stamp in the {ippity} Life's Little Moments set, the stamp on the green band is from the {ippity} Regal Greetings set, the ink is Palette Hybrid Ink-Viridian Leaf, this yummmmy patterned cardstock is from the My Mind's Eye 'quite contrary' collection, and you can get ALL these products from ME today!

I have ALL of these items in stock, so if you'd like them sent out today, hurry and place your order here!

Have a 'lucky' week and thanks for stopping by today!

'Polka Dot Thanks'

Yay, it's Friday!  You know what that means...

well...my son's baseball team was on a waiting list to get into a tournament, and a spot never opened up...I have no company this weekend...the sun is gonna shine all weekend...and I don't have to go anywhere for anybody for anything...woohoo...staying home is sometimes nice!  Okay, okay, I must confess that I will probably need to drop of my son at the skatepark, or at one of his friend's homes, but no committments for me...relax, catch up on things, play in my stamp room, go enjoy the sunshine...'yay' for me!  *smile*

...AND OF COURSE, TODAY IS UNITY'S FRIENDS WITH FLAIR FRIDAY!

I'm sharing a 'Thanks' card that I created with Unity's Spin, Baby wood slide stamp and the sentiment is from {ippity} Regal Greetings stamp set.  Also, this ink is the Palette Hybrid Noir ink pad...I used watercolor crayons and an aqua painter...didn't heat dry it and the ink never spread with the water...love this ink!:

FwFF!

Busy, busy, busy...yup that's what's going on with me...busy, busy, busy!  My son's baseball tournaments; his baseball practices; his football camps; Cactus League Spring Training games (yea, MLB baseball is here in town!); guests in town...and this is all in one week...busy, busy, busy!  And to think that I only have one child...I don't know how you gals do it with more than one child...you must be AWESOME!  *smile*

So as I was scrambling to get my Friends with Flair Friday post up, then I thought...why not recognize my fellow bloggers who do so much for their children, their family, their friends, their community...here's my card to salute all because "you simply Shine"!:

From Unity Projects

Ooooh, sorry for the bad photo...couldn't get any light on this! The background streaks of ink look better IRL! Geeez, this pic looks awful, even the shiny stickles looks bad...I think I want to omit this pic from this post...maybe I can get a better photo during the day!
Thanks for the coming by and have a FABulous FRIday!
