Merry Christmas to all Friends with Flair!

Yes, you heard it right...this will be the last Friends With Flair Friday for 2009!
Can you believe it will be 2010 in...14 days?!  Can you believe Christmas is in...7 days?!  I am totally NOT ready, are you?
It's been a fun year participating in Unity hops and challenges...can you believe that they are such a great company?!

Okay...so now, can you believe that I had not inked up the snowman from the {ippity} Kissmas & Mistletoe set yet?!  So, of course, I just had to!  I inked him up with Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber in Snow Cap.
I embossed the white c/s with a Sizzix Texture Plate, (can't see it that well in the picture) and embossed the sentiment in silver.  Then, I used this stuff called Snow Writer, by DecoArt to outline the white hills and make the snow falling, and covered it all in Diamond Dust.  The sparkle looks cool IRL!  After I did this, I felt this card had enough texture and shine, so I just added a scarf to the snowman and Stickled him some buttons:

From Unity Projects
Stamps: {ippity} Kissmas & Mistletoe
Cardstock: SU! Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White
Ink: Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber-Snow Cap
Accessories: Red Gingham Ribbon, DecoArt-Snow Writer, FloralCraft Diamond Dust, Top Boss Embossing Fluid, SU Sterling Silver Embossing Powder, Stickles-Star Dust, Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Texture Plate
A couple of years ago, I put this quote in my Christmas cards...luv this:
"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before...
What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?!" ~Dr. Seuss
Hope your Christmas 'means a little bit more' too!  Happy, Happy Holiday's!  Be safe, and above all, ENJOY and BELIEVE! *smile*

My 'Fondant' Cake...and updated Birthday Blog Candy Winner...

As I mentioned on Monday, I took a 'Wilton fondant cookie' class, and am now taking a four week 'Wilton fondant cake' class. Here's a picture of my first 'fondant' cake...it looks like a birthday present with a bow and curly ribbon. It's an 8x8 two layer french vanilla cake with a thin layer of strawberry in the middle.  I love how smooth the fondant looks:

"Fondant" Cookies...and Baseball...

Okay, so one of the classes that I have recently taken was a Wilton Cookie Class. In this class they showed us how to make Christmas cookies with 'fondant'. You know, fondant is the thin sugar layer that you roll out and it looks so smooth over a cake...no wrinkles, no lines, looks so perfect! It was a fun class and we added cookie sticks so we could put them together in a bouquet. Since this was a trial run, I didn't make the cookie bouquet. However, I am making some of these cookies for Christmas gifts and will put the bouquet arrangements together then for each family. The Wilton sugar cookie recipe is quite delicious too!

Here is a picture of the cookies that I made (the one of the left is not finished, but those colors are pieces of fondant that I was playing with):
From Misc Pic's
Tomorrow, I'll share the fondant cake that I made.

Also, I wanted to share one picture from my son's baseball tournment this past weekend. This photo was Austin on first base and the other team was trying to pick him off...to get him out. Here he is sliding back to first base and NO that girl didn't tag him out. They tried to pick him off a few times and he was safe every time. He wouldn't have liked it if a girl got him out...there are very few girls that play competitive baseball, especially in the 14U age bracket..yay for girls!

Thanks for looking!

Baseball all weekend....and....Winner of Birthday Candy!

It's Sunday already?!  My son had baseball tournament games all weekend and before driving all the way back home today from Big League Dreams in Gilbert, we had to stop for dinner.  The team lost their last game, but the tournament was fun and all the boys were in a pretty good mood (even after the loss).  This is such a great team of 13 and 14 year old boys...they're smart, they LOOOOOVE baseball, they all get along (many are good buddies) and they just have a fun time.  I will have to post a couple of pictures, but I am so exhausted right now, perhaps I'll post some tomorrow.

Anyway, I wanted to post the winner of my Birthday Blog Candy...and the winner by random.org out of 23 comments is...

updated:  #9 !!!

(I tried to post the actual box that shows this number, but it wouldn't let me keep the image...hmmm, I'll have to figure that out).

{ippity} PEACE

I was so excited to get with my new {ippity} stamps! So, I played along with two SCS challenges: TLC248 Stocking Gift Card Holder template; and CC246 to use colors Bermuda Bay, Old Olive and Pretty in Pink today. You lift up the front flap on the stocking and it holds a gift card...pretty neat.

The {ippity} set I used is the new Kissmas & Mistletoe...aren't the stamps cute?!
I had some old SU lined c/s, and made it plaid by drawing additional lines with the same color markers.  I decided to dangle three of the trees from twine, embossed with dazzling diamonds on the snowflakes, and use my Glassy Glaze Enamel Powder on the word PEACE and the trees...they shine IRL much more than this pic!

Unity's FWFF!

Friends with Flair Friday and it's been a busy week!  My son just had his braces put on, so I'm having to make "soft" foods for dinner, since his teeth are sore.  Good thing Thanksgiving is coming...lots of mashed potatoes for him!

I hope you enjoy all of the yummy Unity goodness as you browse through all the customer blogs...so much to see!

Today, I am sharing my entry for the final Unity Bachelor Bro Challenge. There were seven of us participants, and we were to send in an altered gift to our "boyfriend Bro"! Even though I did not win, it was so fun, and I was honored to be able to join these talented gals in this last challenge!  Take a look at their fantastic creations here!

I sent Ryan a magnetic calendar, created from a picture frame.  All of the days on the calendar, and the sentiments to be placed under the "today" sign, are all exchangeable (magnets).  I painted the overall frame, distressed it a little and then modge podged it.  Then I put all the embellishments along the outside of the frame.
Here's a full view:

The top half view:

The bottom half view (oh btw...the round circles are magnets too, and you can just put them over the appropriate month and day):

Now, if you want to check the details out closer...here are some detailed views of the outside frame.
Around parts of the frame I stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with SU Classy Copper Embossing Powder:

This sentiment is tied with twine to the ribbon, and popped up on the frame:

I stamped Ryan's name and popped up the letters:

I paper pieced the guitar, popped it up, and used twine for the guitar strings:

Popped up the heart and placed an arrow behind it:

This pouch has various embellished sentiments that I made to exchange daily (or whenever) to be placed under the 'TODAY' word on the top half of the calendar:

It's Freakin' Friday already???

Yay, I ordered the "Freakin' Unity" t-shirt, did you? It seems like Friends with Flair Friday came by so fast...fast and furious...life in the fast lane...soooo fast!  Okay, let's get to my post.

Today I'm sharing a door hanger goodie box filled with hot apple cider packets (or I could use this for a cute little gift to fit inside), and stuffed it with shredded card stock.

I used the Unity Royal Day background stamp all over the box. Then I made a belly band layered with Purely Pomegranate cardstock (retired SU) and My Mind's Eye Laundry Line paper. Wrapped a satin ribbon around the belly band and added a tag with twine. The tag sentiment is outlined in Stickles. Then, I cut out the stick hearts from the September KOM, tucked them in the ribbon, and covered the swirls with a gold Gel Burst pen for some shine, which shows up more IRL.

From Unity Projects
Have an {ippity} 'hint, hint' coming soon kind of day and enjoy the rest of the fantastic Unity inspiration as you peruse the Unity customer blogs! I'm still trying to catch up on all the blogs from last week...wish me luck to get through them all today! *smile*

Finally mailed in my "Broman" Gift and... {ippity} coming soon!

Ack! I think the stress is finally over! I wanted to get my Broman challenge completed this weekend, but you all know what happens when you are picking up and dropping off the kids and running errands! Yea, and I only have one 13 year old son, but his friends are also my sons, ya KWIM?!

I finally got my "gift" to my boyfriend Broman in the mail today! No, he's not really my boyfriend, but Unity asked us to make sure the package clearly stated it was sent "to my boyfriend Broman"! The challenge was to send an "altered" gift, so I hope my package gets there okay. I will show my gift after Broman receives it, so I won't ruin the surprise...geez, I hope he likes it?! Heck, there's big winnings at stake...I have no idea what the other gals are sending in, but if you know the Unity addicts...there are going to be some terrifically awesome gifts! We'll have to see if mine lives up to there's, so now it's waiting time, waiting, waiting...till the November 19th announcement (insert finger nail biting here)!

The big news...drum roll...woohoo, yay, YES, I have joined the {ippity} chicks to represent that exciting new, fun and fresh line of stamps! Woohoo, yay, I can hardly wait for my inventory to get here. If you are interested in purchasing these stamps from me, I will have a new post/blog area shortly, so keep on the lookout, okay?! And, as an added bonus...if you are in close proximity to Phoenix, Arizona, I'd be glad to drop by with the new goodies so you can see what fantastic quality these stamps are. Deeply etched rich red rubber...WHO DOES THAT? Well, Unity and {ippity} by Unity, of course!

Till next time, have an {ippity} kind of day!

What, Starbucks called me???

Okay, I just have to share...My friend Tammy and I went to the Women's Expo this past weekend...here in Phoenix. It wasn't the best show that they've had 'cause a lot of vendors weren't there this year (like the food vendors!) Heck, how are you supposed to go through a Women's Expo without sampling different snacks and food in the aisles, geez???
BUT, my favorite all time coffee place was there...yup, we found the Starbuck's booth and they had samples of their new VIA instant coffee...yum.
Well...on Monday morning I realized I had a message on my cell phone...oooh, I thought maybe it was a job offer. Heck no, it wasn't a job offer, BUT it was waaaay better... Guess what? Did you guess yet? I WON the Starbuck's gift basket that they were raffling! Woohoo, oh yea, I won, I won! insert jumping up and down with excitement here!
I just picked up this basket today! I know that many of you gals loooove Starbuck's and I'd invite you over for some coffee and cookies, but since you all live far, far away, I will share a photo of my basket...all pretty tied with a bow:

Recipe Card for Bro...

Friday, Friends with Flair Friday @ Unity!
The latest challenge for Week 4 that Bro has dished out is to make a recipe card using Unity stamps.
So...here's my Chocolate Trifle recipe card that I'm entering. This trifle recipe is the "adult" version (with vodka and kahlua), but you can omit those ingredients if you must. The layers look awesome in a clear trifle bowl!
I used lots of Unity stamps and made that little flower behind the 'Desserts' out of a coffee filter. I punched it out with a round scallop punch; crinkled it up; sprayed Maya Mist in Iridescent Pearl; and scrunched it up a little again. Then I sprayed a little more of the Maya Mist towards the lower left hand corner of the recipe card to give it a little more shine:

What is the "Melting Pot", you ask?

No, I'm not talking about the restaurant with all those fantastic items to dip in various sauces...yum! I'm talking about a "Melting Pot Magic" class that I took at one of my LSS "Madscrappers" on Saturday, World Card Making Day. Then, I took the "Melting Pot Magic Advanced" class right after! Even though these were not cards that we made, everything I did make can be used as elements on a card or page or...

I had never even tried the Melting Pot before this class and oooh, I LUV it! There are so many endless possibilities with UTEE (in many amazing colors) and this Melting Pot. We used Melt Art™ To Dye For™ colors We learned to use molds, red rubber stamps, how to do faux soldering, create jewelry, use chipboard, create paper beads and on and on and on.
This first photo (from left to right) is pouring clear UTEE over these images:
a) cut out round cardstock image(haunted house/moon/tree) and placed in a round silicone baking cup, then poured UTEE over it;b) placing a diamond cookie cutter on cardstock image (spiders), then poured UTEE over it;c) placing a square cardstock image (witch on a broom), placing it in square silver case, then pouring UTEE over it.The UTEE dries sooo quickly that your piece is done in no time and you can just pop out your project out of the molds:
From Miscellaneous Items

This next photo show the paper/UTEE beads and the center image is faux soldering (I need LOTS of practice on this one)...ha! I also made this silver square necklace stamped with the Unity Flowers from Neverland stamp:

From Miscellaneous Items

I poured the hot UTEE (with color) into a necklace square and then used my 'red rubber' Unity stamp to make the impression and highlighted it with a little Pearl X:

From Miscellaneous Items

This last photo...
a) I tried to make little round pearls in this UTEE colored in pinks...this bigger pearl is what happens when you can't get the UTEE to stay 'round' and I kept dipping this back into the hot UTEE and it eventually grew bigger than the one that I only dipped once..heehee!;b) This second necklace is experimenting with various colors and letting it melt into the UTEE without mixing it;c) This flower is actually chipboard dipped in hot UTEE, and it's pretty tricky to get it coated just right without 'falling' back into the hot UTEE:
From Miscellaneous Items

If someone actually read this entire post, 'THANK YOU' for letting me show what I learned...it was really a fun time playing with this stuff! Now...should I purchase the tools to continue with this...hmmm...not sure yet!
